OUR PROJECT

Project on Configuration Analysis of Subsea Cable Installation

This project presents a comprehensive analysis of the hanging cable’s performance in a sea water environment, focusing on its behavior and response across various configurations and conditions. The primary objective was to assess the cable’s performance under the influence of sea current and develop a thorough understanding of its characteristics using numerical modeling techniques. These findings provide valuable insights for informed decision-making and serve as a foundation for further exploration of effective cable protection strategies.

Development of price forecasting models for the main vegetables in Malaysia

Monitoring the volatility of commodity prices can play an important role in evaluating the country’s economic performance. Projections on commodity prices serve as a compass for government bodies to formulate sound economic policies and strategies in moving forward. In addressing this issue, a study had been conducted to assess the fluctuations of CERTAIN vegetable prices. Ten MAIN specific vegetables that were cultivated and produced in Malaysia were selected in this study. The collected data relates to farm prices per kilogram on a weekly basis for a period of four years (2019-2023). The descriptive statistics analysis was performed initially to the data series in understanding their main characteristics. The data series were then analyzed using the time series analysis. The primary objective of the time series analysis was to understand the underlying patterns and trends present in the sequence of observations, and to use this understanding to predict future values. In this study, ARIMA modelling techniques were used to model the time series data of vegetable prices across various states in Malaysia. These models were then used to forecast short-term price trends for each type of vegetable. The prices of vegetables had shown significant variability since 2020. This fluctuation can be attributed to numerous factors, with the most notable being the disruptive impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on both our economy and social wellbeing. Consequently, these challenges likely contributed to the volatility in vegetable prices, leading to sudden spikes and increased variability in the market.
